چکیده

Themultilevel lot-sizing (MLLS) problem is a key production planning problem inmaterials requirements planning (MRP) system. The MLLS problem deals with determining the production lot-sizes of various items appearing in the product structure over a given finite planning horizon to minimize the production cost, the inventory carrying cost, the back ordering cost and etc. This paper proposed a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm for solving the uncapacitatedMLLS problemwith assembly structure. All themathematical operators in our algorithm are redefined and the inertial weight parameter can be either a negative real number or a positive one. The feasibility and effectiveness of our algorithmare investigated by comparing the experimental resultswith those of a genetic algorithm (GA). © 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Optimal Placement and Sizing of DGs and Shunt Capacitor Banks Simultaneously in Distribution Networks using Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm Based on Adaptive Learning Strategy

Abstract: Optimization of DG and capacitors is a nonlinear objective optimization problem with equal and unequal constraints, and the efficiency of meta-heuristic methods for solving optimization problems has been proven to any degree of complex it. As the population grows and then electricity consumption increases, the need for generation increases, which further reduces voltage, increases los...

A variable neighborhood search with an effective local search for uncapacitated multilevel lot-sizing problems

In this study, we improved the variable neighborhood search (VNS) algorithm for solving uncapacitated multilevel lot-sizing (MLLS) problems. The improvement is two-fold. First, we developed an effective local search method known as the Ancestors Depth-first Traversal Search (ADTS), which can be embedded in the VNS to significantly improve the solution quality. Second, we proposed a common and e...

Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization for the Multi-Level Lot-Sizing Problem

This paper presents a Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization (DPSO) approach for the Multi-Level Lot-Sizing Problem (MLLP), which is an uncapacitated lot sizing problem dedicated to materials requirements planning (MRP) systems. The proposed DPSO approach is based on cost modification and uses PSO in its original form with continuous velocity equations. Each particle of the swarm is represented b...

An Interactive Best-Compromise Approach for Capacitor Placement and Sizing in Distribution Feeder by Using Particle Swarm Optimization

A new formulation of bi-objective optimization for the general capacitor placement and sizing problem is presented. The objectives include energy loss reduction, investment cost minimization, and maximum voltage deviation improvement. The operating and expansion constraints of the system are considered for practical needed. Also, both fixed and switched types of capacitors are included. A parti...

A Flow shop Production Planning Problem with basic period policy and Sequence Dependent set up times

Many authors have examined lot sizing, scheduling and sequence of multi-product flow shops, but most of them have assumed that set up times are independent of sequence. Whereas dependence of set up times to sequence is more common in practice. Hence, in this paper, we examine the discussed problem with hypothesis of dependence of set up times to sequence and cyclic schedule policy in basic peri...
